HHS English Department
Grade Breakdown
for English 1
Information about your individual grade for the class can be found on Infinite Campus. Below is the breakdown for grades for all English 1 classes.
- 35% Writing and Major Assessments - final drafts of major writing assignments; this includes formal responses to expository text
- 25% Assessments - tests, independent reading, major presentations, etc
- 15% Homework ( reading assignments, drafts for essays, vocabulary practice activities, etc.). These assignments are typically worth 10 points each and scored using this Rubric.
- 25% In-Class Work (journals, notes, group work, etc.)
- Points are added up in each category over the course of the entire semester.
- 1st Semester progress report cards are mailed by the school in mid-October and late November. In this class, these are meant to be just that - a report on your student's progress. The grade earned in January is the final grade earned for the semester (opposed to 6-week letter grades being averaged). The same is true for 2nd semester and progress report cards are mailed in mid-March and mid-May.
- Grades will be updated regularly on Infinite Campus. If you have forgotten how to log-in or your password / user id does not work, go to the Counseling Office. Once you have signed up to use Infinite Campus, your log-in is the same for all four years.
